Already it was a month late,
His keeping up the routine,
His setting aside
Even the 10 minutes,
The quarter hour,
To meditate,
To stop,
To breathe,
To think,
To give thanks,
To give praise,
To pause,
To cleanse,
So simple,
So therapeutic,
So important.
And he had been careless,
Maybe he had been lazy.
He had failed to be insistent,
For his time and space.
Already it was a month late,
His keeping up the routine,
His setting aside
Even the 10 minutes,
The quarter hour.
